Platelet concentrates in the replantation of avulsed teeth: a systematic review
نویسندگان
چکیده
It is accepted that replantation is the treatment of choice for avulsed teeth, however resorption and ankylosis are frequent complications in clinical practice. In such situation it is clinically relevant to evaluate the effectiveness of platelet concentrates in reducing these complications and improving the prognosis for the tooth. The object of this review was to analyse the available evidence on the effectiveness of the use of platelet concentrates on replanted teeth (regeneration of the periodontal ligament and lower complication rates). Only two studies carried out in animals were included in this review. PPP and PRP were used in one and PRF in the other. Both used platelet concentrates for replantation of intentionally extracted teeth. According to a qualitative analysis of these studies, it was observed that PRF is superior in terms of neoformation of tissue similar to periodontal ligament. Evidence exists to support the use of these concentrates, however no controlled, randomised clinical studies were found which compared the effectiveness of the various concentrates with one another.

Case Report: Delayed Replantation of Avulsed Tooth
This is a case of delayed replantation of avulsed maxillary central incisor after an extended dry extra-alveolar period. A 10-year-old boy presented with avulsed maxillary central incisor after a fall that resulted in dental trauma, occurring 18 hours earlier. Treatment guidelines for avulsed mature permanent teeth with prolonged extraoral time were carried out for the teeth and the extraoral e...
متن کاملDifferent Storage Medium for Avulsed Teeth: A Literature Review
Avulsion is complete displacement of tooth from its alveolar socket. Immediate replantation is the best choice at the site of accident. When replantation is not possible, it should be kept in a storage medium. The storage media keeps periodontal cells with less damage to be able to regenerate and attach and prevents root resorption. The medium selected as a storage medium should be easily avail...
متن کاملReplantation of avulsed primary incisors: a critical review of a controversial treatment.
Compared with the abundant literature on the replantation of avulsed permanent teeth, the literature on replantation of avulsed primary teeth is significantly more limited. A search of PubMed, using the terms: primary teeth, primary incisors, avulsion, exarticulation, replantation and reposition, and search in the reference list of the relevant articles, revealed 16 case reports of replantation...
متن کاملSplinting duration and periodontal outcomes for replanted avulsed teeth: a systematic review.
Clinical guidelines are now available for the management of avulsed teeth. The principles of evidence-based dentistry can be used to assess whether these guidelines are based on currently-available evidence. A qualitative systematic review was conducted of relevant clinical literature to examine the evidence on splinting duration and periodontal healing outcomes. The review was constrained mark...
متن کاملReplantation of avulsed primary incisors: a risk benefit assessment.
Parents of preschool children with avulsed primary incisors may request replantation. Although dental textbooks uniformly recommend that primary teeth not be replanted, some case reports advocate the procedure. This review of case reports identifies a number of pathological outcomes of replantation and provides information for clinicians and parents on the risks that may accompany replantation.
